Wi-Fi password in Windows 10 laptop can be easily retrieved by looking at the Wi-Fi profiles setting. Wi-Fi password is an alphanumeric key or special characters used to connect into a secured wireless network. It is usually stored in your laptop along with the SSID or Wireless Network Name.
To find the Wi-Fi password in Windows 10 laptop, Go to Windows Search bar then type Wi-Fi Settings and press enter. Under related settings, Click on Network and Sharing Centre. Select the Wi-Fi name from active network connection, click Wireless Properties > Security > Show Characters.
Unmask Wi-Fi password using control panel settings
Step 1. Go to Windows Search Bar and type control.exe /nameMicrosoft.NetworkandSharingCenter and hit enter.
Step 2. In the Network and Sharing Center window, Click the Wi-Fi name in which the laptop is connected. As shown below.
Step 3. The Wi-Fi Status window will pop up, Click Wireless Properties
Step 4. In the Wireless Network Properties window, Click Security Tab
Step 5. Tick the Show Characters box to reveal the network pass key. Wi-Fi key
Show all saved Wi-Fi password using command prompt
To find all saved Wi-Fi passwords in Windows 10, you need to run command prompt tool in administrator mode.
Follow this guide to see the Wi-Fi passwords.
- Search CMD from search box and run as administrator or simply press windows key + X + C
- In the command prompt window, type netsh wlan show profiles and press enter. It will show you the list of all wireless access points saved on your PC.
- Then run this command, netsh wlan show profile name=WifiConnectionName key=clear, where WifiConnectionName is your selected WiFi connection profile. For example, in this figure below I used ETHAN Wi-Fi profile. It will show you all the information in this Wi-Fi profile including the security key or password.
- Scroll down to security settings to get the Wi-Fi key or password.
You can repeat the instructions above to see all other Wi-Fi security keys or passwords.
